Danielle Allen has written The World of Prometheus: the Politics of Punishing in Democratic Athens (Princeton, 2001) and Talking to Strangers: on Little Rock and Political Friendship (Chicago, 2004) as well as articles on Plato, Aristotle, oratory, tragedy, archaic poetry, democratic theory and practice, rhetoric, and political metaphor. Her interests span Athenian democracy, democratic theory, ancient philosophy, and ancient and modern poetics. She is the 2000 recipient of the Quantrell Award for Excellence in Teaching.
