Robert Reamer is a PhD candidate in the department. His research is situated at the intersection of political theory, social theory, and critical political economy. His dissertation project, tentatively titled "Reconstructing Capitalism: Constructivist Social Theory as Critical Political Economy," draws on the resources of pragmatist social theory and economic sociology in order to reframe traditional questions of Marxian critical theory. It develops and deploys a pragmatistically-inflected social theory to produce a critique of contemporary capitalism attuned to creative reconstruction and political possibility.
