Shu Fu is a PhD candidate in the field of American politics and political methodology. His research interests include American presidency, executive-legislative relations, distributive politics, public opinion, machine learning and text analysis, and causal inference. His dissertation studies American inter-branch messaging. Drawing upon a rich collection of press releases, social media postings, and floor speeches, he uses text as data to investigate how members of Congress publicly respond to presidential appeals.
Shu earned a BA and an MA from the Department of International Relations at Tsinghua University.
