Teaching Fellow

Yan is an MA Teaching Fellow in Political Science at the University of Chicago. He is interested in the politics of technological development, state-business relations, and Chinese politics.  His dissertation examines how China imitated and refashioned the Silicon Valley model of venture capital and startups and its impact on the development of high-tech industries in China. He is also doing research on wealth defense by China's richest business elites under single-party rule and US dominance of the global semiconductor industry.
