Susan Stokes, who will be returning to the Department of Political Science from Yale University this fall, was named the Tiffany and Margaret Blake Distinguished Service Professor. Sue is an accomplished scholar in comparative politics and political science and is highly influential in the comparative study of democracy, tracing basic questions of who votes and why and how those voters are shaped by party strategies, focusing on the costs, benefits, and information available to different actors within a system of political interaction. She has received major external fellowships including the Guggenheim, NSF, SSRC, and Fulbright, and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
