Arwa Awan is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of Chicago. Her research interests are in the history of political thought with a focus on modern European and anticolonial political thought as well as Marxist social and critical theory. Her dissertation examines receptions of Marx and Marxism in twentieth century anti-colonial thought through the concept of alienation. She holds an MA in Political Science from the University of Chicago and a BA in History and Government from Cornell University. This year, she is a doctoral fellow at the Pozen Center for Human Rights.
