Ben Alperstein researches the impact and evolution of language and framing, with a primary focus on the triangular relationship between the U.S., China, and Taiwan. He is especially interested in the relationship between framing and public opinion. Ben's Committee on International Relations (CIR) MA thesis at the University of Chicago analyzed the terminology that news organizations employ in defining Taiwan for their readers, including distinctions, commonalities, and potential effects. Prior to completing his CIR MA, Ben served as Foreign Editor for the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York and specialized in History at the University of Toronto.
