Ethan Bueno de Mesquita is the Sydney Stein Professor and Deputy Dean for Promotions & Recruitment, at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. His research focuses on applications of game theoretic models to a variety of political phenomena including political violence—such as terrorism, rebellion, and insurgency—and electoral accountability.

He is the author of a widely used textbook, Political Economy for Public Policy (Princeton University Press), as well as many articles in leading journals in both political science and economics.
