Sidra is a Ph.D. student in Comparative Politics. While her main interest lies in political violence research, she has broadly been researching on identity politics, contentious politics and social movements. More specifically, she focuses on the study of vigilantism in South Asia, and is particularly interested in understanding the role of vigilantism as a form of political violence that is hybrid and operates both in and in-between the state and non-state sphere.
Alongside her focus on political violence, Sidra is interested in various strains of political, legal and religious thought in India and Pakistan. She recently published «Towards a Postcolonial Theory of Constitutional Patriotism for the Marginalized: The Case of the Indian Constitution and Kashmir» in VRÜ/World Comparative Law Journal Vol. 56, pp. 706-732 (2023).
Sidra has previously completed an MPhil in Modern South Asian Studies at the University of Oxford, and holds an MA in Global Thought from Columbia University and a BA in International Studies from the University of Oslo.
